Come riporta il sito di Rainews, continuano le proteste oceaniche in Turchia a favore di Imamoglu, ex sindaco di Istanbul e principale rivale del presidente Recep Tayyip Erdogan, che « è stato arrestato il 19 marzo con accuse di corruzione e terrorismo. Un tribunale ha respinto queste ultime ma ha confermato la detenzione per corruzione, accuse che l’opposizione considera prive di fondamento e politicamente motivate. Il suo arresto ha scatenato massicce proteste e ha rafforzato il suo ruolo politico: la settimana scorsa, durante le primarie del Chp, Imamoglu è stato scelto con oltre 15 milioni di voti come candidato, per sfidare il capo di Stato di Ankara alle presidenziali».

A ragione Goffredo Buccini fa notare, sul Corrriere della Sera, che «l’Europa continua a essere assente. Vi ricordate quante volte invochiamo la voce dell’Europa, la forte iniziativa diplomatica europea, spesso a sproposito? Beh, se c’è una volta si dovrebbe far sentire l’Europa è adesso. E non la sentiamo ancora: accanto al popolo turco, accanto a Ekrem Imamoglu»
