Ha una durata di 40 giorni, tra gennaio e marzo, la Maha Kumbh Mela, uno degli eventi spirituali più incredibili dell’umanità, in cui milioni di sadhu, religiosi e semplici pellegrini si radunano per pregare, discutere, recitare mantra e, soprattutto, per compiere il bagno purificatore nelle acque del Gange. Gli indù credono che immergersi nelle acque sacre nel giorno più propizio della luna nuova, assolverà loro e i loro antenati dal peccato ponendo così fine al ciclo di rinascita. Una festa antica che ancora oggi particolarmente sentita. (foto Ansa)
