Israele chiude la sede di Al Jazeera in Cisgiordania

Soldati israeliani sono entrati a Ramallah, nella Cisgiordania occupata per chiudere la sede della rete televisiva Al Jazeera. Condanna di Amnesty International

Come riporta l’Agenzia Ansa «Militari dell’esercito israeliano hanno fatto irruzione nella sede di Ramallah di Al Jazeera per notificare la chiusura per 45 giorni. L’ingresso dei militari negli uffici della Cisgiordania è stato testimoniato in diretta dalla stessa emittente qatariota».

«La chiusura della sede di Ramallah di al-Jazeera da parte delle autorità israeliane – afferma Heba Morayef, direttrice di Amnesty International per il Medio Oriente e l’Africa del Nord – è un altro vergognoso attacco al diritto alla libertà d’espressione e un colpo devastante alla libertà di stampa».

«In un contesto di crescenti violazioni del diritto internazionale – continua la responsabile di Amnesty-  come le operazioni militari nella Cisgiordania occupata e gli incessanti attacchi contro la Striscia di Gaza occupata col reale rischio di genocidio, è fondamentale che la stampa possa raccontare cosa sta accadendo. La chiusura della sede di Ramallah di al-Jazeera è un palese tentativo del governo israeliano di limitare la copertura delle sue violazioni del diritto internazionale dei diritti umani e del diritto internazionale umanitario».
