L’annuale Festival delle ninfee nella città di Las Pinas, nelle Filippine, è stato istituito dalla Fondazione Villar per evidenziare la trasformazione delle ninfee da seccature acquatiche a risorse preziose. Attraverso il “Progetto di tessitura delle ninfee”, la fondazione trasforma queste piante in oggetti di artigianato, creando mezzi di sussistenza e favorendo la riabilitazione della comunità. Durante il festival, gli abitanti del villaggio sfilano indossando costumi tradizionali realizzati con ninfee essiccate, dimostrando il successo del progetto e promuovendo i benefici dei mezzi di sussistenza basati sulle ninfee per i residenti locali.
