Come riferisce l’Ansa, «l’Onu annunciato di aver sospeso le operazioni umanitarie nella Striscia di Gaza a causa di un nuovo ordine di evacuazione israeliano su Deir al-Balah, nel centro del territorio palestinese: dall’inizio della guerra in ottobre, ha osservato un alto funzionario del Palazzo di Vetro, le Nazioni Unite hanno dovuto talvolta “ritardare o mettere in pausa” le operazioni, “ma mai fino al punto di dire concretamente che non possiamo più fare nulla” come invece avviene ora».

Da partte sua l’Unicef fa sapere che «i bambini a Gaza stanno affrontando rischi inimmaginabili per le loro vite e la loro salute, compresa la polio ora confermata in un bambino di 10 mesi».

«L’Unicef e i suoi partner- afferma la direttrice generale Catherine Russell – sono pronti a somministrare i vaccini anti polio per proteggere i bambini a Gaza e nella regione. Ma dobbiamo avere una pausa nei combattimenti.

La rete televisiva Al Jazeera riferisce che 60 organizzazioni internazionali per la libertà di stampa e i diritti umani hanno inviato all’Unione Europea chiedendo di intraprendere un’azione decisiva contro il governo di Israele per le sue crescenti violazioni della libertà dei media e l’uccisione di giornalisti a Gaza, nella Cisgiordania occupata e in Israele. La lettera è stato firmata tra gli altri dall’ International Press Institute (IPI), Human Rights Watch (HRW) e Free Press Unlimited (FPU).
