Cina e Usa si incontrano nei dialoghi di Shangri-la

A Singapore 600 delegati da 49 Paesi presenti al massimo summit di sicurezza dell’Asia-Pacifico

Come annunciato da diverse fonti, come l’Agenzia Nova, Singapore ha ospitato dal 2 al 4 giugno la ventesima edizione del Dialogo Shangri-La, conferenza sulla sicurezza dell’Asia organizzata dall’Istituto internazionale per gli studi strategici (Iiss). Già nella prima giornata di lavori si sono svolte tre sessioni speciali dedicate alle implicazioni della competizione tecnologia sulla sicurezza, alle sfide per lo sviluppo delle capacità militari dell’Asia-Pacifico e alla dimensione nucleare della sicurezza regionale. Tra i relatori anche il segretario alla Difesa degli Stati Uniti, Lloyd Austin e Li Shangfu, ministro della Difesa cinese. Quest’ultimo ha affermato, tra l’altro, che «la guerra con gli Stati Uniti sarebbe un disastro insopportabile per il mondo». Una presa di posizione salutata come un segnale di pace tra le due potenze militari ed economiche. Di parere contrario Lorenzo Lamperti, direttore editoriale di China Files, secondo il quale, «una rapida e cordiale stretta di mano prima della cena di apertura è stato l’unico contatto noto tra Lloyd Austin, segretario alla Difesa degli Stati Uniti, e Li Shangfu, ministro della Difesa cinese. Nessun bilaterale, tante critiche e nessuna concessione in vista, con anzi i due impegnati a indicare il rivale come fonte di instabilità».
