Giornata mondiale senza tabacco 2022

Il fumo non danneggia solo la salute delle persone, ma anche quella del pianeta

Secondo l’Oms (Organizzazione mondiale per la salute), il fumo non è una minaccia solo per la salute dei fumatori (diretti e indiretti), ma anche per il pianeta. L’industria del tabacco, infatti, inquina l’aria, la terra e le acque, con impatto diretto sulla salute umana e su quella dell’ambiente. Questo il messaggio scelto per la Giornata mondiale senza tabacco 2022, che cade oggi 31 maggio.

Secondo l’Oms, l’industria del tabacco distrugge ogni anno 8 milioni di vite umane, 600 milioni di alberi, 200 mila ettari di suolo, 22 miliardi di tonnellate di acqua. In più emette 84 milioni di tonnellate di CO2, che contribuisce all’effetto serra e quindi al riscaldamento del pianeta.
