Protesta massiva a Seul dei monaci buddisti

Migliaia di monaci di Corea del Sud si sono radunati al Tempio Jogye per reclamare il riconoscimento e rispetto della loro fede

Circa 5000 monaci buddisti si sono manifestati a Jogyesa, il tempio principale dell’Ordine Jogye, la più grande setta buddista della Corea del Sud, per protestare contro i “pregiudizi religiosi” che affermano essere prevalenti all’interno del governo di Moon Jae-in.

L’Ordine Jogye e altre sette denunciano da tempo le discriminazioni che percepiscono da parte dell’attuale regime coreano, come la bassa rappresentanza di politici buddisti all’interno del gabinetto del Presidente, o l’avallo del cristianesimo attraverso una campagna promozionale statale. Così, hanno chiesto l’emanazione di leggi per prevenire ulteriori discriminazioni religiose contro il buddismo e misure per preservare il loro patrimonio nazionale.

La protesta, prima nelle sue dimensioni dopo quella di 1994, arriva a pochi giorni dalle elezioni presidenziali, che vedranno sfidarsi per il potere il candidato del partito al governo Lee Jae-myung e il suo principale rivale Yoon Suk-yeol.
