Giovedì 4 novembre, la popolazione iraniana ha commemorato, come ogni anno, l’occupazione dell’Ambasciata statunitense a Teheran.

Era il 1979 quando un gruppo di studenti rivoluzionari irruppero l’ambasciata nordamericana e rapirono 52 diplomatici durante 444 giorni, troncando così le relazioni diplomatiche tra le due nazioni. Da quel momento, i manifestanti si riuniscono annualmente per rivendicare quella data e mostrare la loro opposizione agli Stati Uniti e a Israele con gesti di disprezzo come il vilipendio alle bandiere.

Il 42º anniversario dell’occupazione arriva in un contesto storico in cui è stato annunciato il ritorno al dialogo con gli Usa per la questione nucleare, ma si mantiene vivo il desiderio di nazionalismo. (AP Photo/Vahid Salemi)
