India e Sudafrica chiedono la sospensione dei brevetti farmaceutici durante la pandemia

Mentre continuano ad arrivare aggiornamenti sulla fasi avanzate di sperimentazione di diverse tipologie di vaccini contro il Covid 19, l’ India, assieme al Sudafrica, ha chiesto, fin dal 2 ottobre,  all’ Organizzazione mondiale del commercio (Omc o Wto) di attivare la regola che permette, in casi straordinari, di sospendere, per tutta la durata della pandemia e fino al raggiungimento della immunità, il diritto di esclusiva delle case farmaceutiche sui brevetti e agli altri diritti di proprietà intellettuale con riferimento a farmaci, vaccini, diagnostici, dispositivi di protezione personale, e le altre tecnologie medicali necessarie per contrastare il contagio da Covid 19.

Anche l’Italia può aderire, fino al 20 novembre, a tale istanza finalizzata all’accesso universale e gratuito ai vaccini.
