Non si placa la reazione della popolazione indiana contro la legge sulla cittadinanza voluta dal partito nazionalista del premier Modi. La legge esclude agli immigrati musulmani provenienti da Bangladesh, Afghanistan e Pakistan, e che risiedono in India da almeno sei anni, la possibilità di essere regolarizzati, rendendo l’appartenenza religiosa un requisito per l’accesso.
