Osannata da una parte e denigrata dall’altra, il volto della giovane Greta Thunberg è ormai tra i più noti a livello mondiale. Sorprende lo spazio che riesce ad avere nei grandi incontri internazionali. Ecco le parole che ha potuto pronunciare lunedì 23 settembre 2019 davanti  all’ apertura del vertice Onu sul clima.

«Il mio messaggio è che vi terremo d’occhio. Tutto questo è così sbagliato. Non dovrei essere qui, dovrei essere a scuola, dall’altro lato dell’Oceano. Venite a chiedere la speranza a noi giovani? Come vi permettete? Avete rubato i miei sogni e la mia infanzia con le vostre parole vuote, e io sono tra i più fortunati. Le persone stanno soffrendo, stanno morendo. Interi ecosistemi stanno collassando. Siamo all’inizio di un’estinzione di massa. E tutto ciò di cui parlate sono soldi e favole di eterna crescita economica? Come vi permettete?».

«Ci state deludendo, ma i giovani stanno iniziando a capire il vostro tradimento, gli occhi di tutte le generazioni future sono su di voi, e se sceglierete di fallire non vi perdoneremo mai. Il mondo si sta svegliando e il cambiamento sta arrivando, che vi piaccia o no. Il mio messaggio è che vi teniamo gli occhi addosso»”.
