Le immagini che restano di questi incontri sono quelle dei cosiddetti “grandi” della Terra colti, con il contorno delle mogli, in pose insolite e foto di gruppo da scolaresca. Ma cosa sono questi vertici informali? Una spiegazione storica e tecnica sul sito ancora in piedi del G7 del 2017 presieduto dall’Italia. Nel 2019 il nostro Paese si è presentato in Francia con un presidente del Consiglio dimissionario. Segno di una instabilità italica di carattere fisiologica ma che palesa, come messaggio più intrinseco, la caducità e la temporaneità del potere.

«L’origine dei Summit delle grandi economie industrializzate risale al 1975, quando il Presidente francese Valéry Giscard d’Estaing invitò i Leader della Repubblica federale di Germania, del Regno Unito, dell’Italia, degli Stati Uniti e del Giappone a Rambouillet per discutere della crisi economico-finanziaria successiva allo shock petrolifero del 1973-1974. I colloqui di Rambouillet sancirono quelle caratteristiche peculiari che contraddistinguono il foro ancora oggi: senso di informalità tra Leader; schiettezza del dialogo; trattazione dei grandi temi di attualità internazionale; intimità della location del Vertice; presenza di funzionari di fiducia dei Capi di Stato e di Governo ( i c.d. “Sherpa”); brevità dell’incontro; sottoscrizione di una dichiarazione congiunta contenete impegni politici di alto livello».
