Convenzionalmente l’ultimo fine settimana di maggio, i buddhisti nel mondo celebrano il Buddha Purnima, ossia i tre momenti fondamentali dell’esistenza del Buddha, la sua nascita (circa 2500 anni fa), l’illuminazione e la morte (il parinirvana). In questi giorni le persone visitano i luoghi sacri del Buddha e offrono a lui preghiere. Alcuni osservano il digiuno nel giorno di luna piena e offrono frutta e dolci per le divinità del Signore Buddha. (foto Ap)
