«Il nostro bambino ha aperto le ali stanotte alle 2.30. Abbiamo il cuore spezzato. Grazie a tutti per il vostro sostegno», ha scritto la madre Kate. «Il mio gladiatore ha posato lo scudo e si è guadagnato le ali. Abbiamo il cuore spezzato. Ti voglio bene, ragazzo mio», il saluto del padre, Tom. A nulla è valsa la battaglia legale di questi due genitori per non spegnere le macchine che sostenevano la respirazione del piccolo Alfie, ma i giudici inglesi non hanno permesso che il bimbo fosse trasferito al Bambino Gesù di Roma, nonostante la cittadinanza italiana. Una nuova vittima di una totale ed enorme ignoranza sulla differenza tra cure palliative e accanimento terapeutico. (foto Ap)
