La giornata di studio sull’Enciclica di Benedetto XVI Caritas in Veritate (29 giugno 2009), tenutasi presso l’Istituto Universitario Sophia in data 24 settembre 2009, si è configurata come un laboratorio a carattere interdisciplinare rivelandosi un’importante opportunità di riflessione, di dialogo e di scavo a più voci. Il proposito era quello di indagare, a livello teologico, filosofico, politico, economico e giuridico, le implicazioni dell’umanesimo del dono propiziato dal testo: esso chiede un nuovo slancio del pensiero all’altezza dell’opportunità esibita dai “segni dei tempi”, anche e soprattutto quando la contemporaneità si presenta ferita e anelante a uno stupore rigeneratore che sgorghi dall’esperienza della gratuità e della reciprocità. Tale slancio di pensiero si è mostrato compito e contributo di tutti, anzi fermento già in atto nella storia, a partire dal dirsi e dal darsi di Dio in Gesù quale relazione e comunione sempre nuova dei distinti, che è e comunica la pienezza della vita. «La verità – scrive infatti Benedetto XVI – è lógos che crea dia-lógos e quindi comunicazione e comunione», aprendo e unendo «le intelligenze nel lógos dell’amore» (CiV, n. 4).

 

The study day on Benedict XVI’s encyclical Caritas in veritate, which took place at Sophia University Institute on 24 September 2009, was a significant in-depth, interdisciplinary and dialogical reflection between a variety of interlocutors. It sought to look, from the perspectives of theology, philosophy, politics, economics and law, at the implications of the ‘humanism of giving’ favoured by the text. The text asks for a new departure in thinking, one ready to rise to the opportunity offered by the ‘signs of the times’, in particular in the contemporary world that shows itself at once wounded and filled with a longing for the surprising regeneration that comes from gratuitousness and reciprocity. This new departure is seen to demand the contribution of all. It is, indeed, already present in history, having begun with God’s self-gift in Jesus as a relationship and communion that is always new and distinct, that is and that communicates the fullness of life. ‘Truth,’ writes Benedict XVI, ‘is lógos which creates diálogos, and hence communication and communion’, opening and uniting ‘our minds in the lógos of love’ (CV, 4).
